Do You Believe? Empty
PostSubject: Do You Believe?   Do You Believe? I_icon_minitimeSun Jul 27, 2008 12:54 pm

Acts 8:27-39 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

We all have certian things we believe in. Some beliefs are true, but most beliefs are false. We all say we want to go to Heaven. Most of us even say we are going to Heaven. The bottom line is, does God say we are going to Heaven? It doesn't matter what our preachers says. It doesn't matter what I say. What matters is, what does God say?

As we read in the above scriptures God says we can go to Heaven if we simply believe. There are many different teachings and beliefs on how to get to Heaven. God said to simply believe.
Quote :
But, Brother Chris it can't be that simple.
Either it is that simple or God is a liar. My God is no liar!
Quote :
But, what about those who believe and still go out and sin? What about the ones who commit murder or rape people or even mess with little kids.
Wether you or I agree with it is irrelevant. God says even they can go to Heaven.
Quote :
But what about the sins they have committed? They might have gotten saved before but they have sinned after they got saved. God can't let them in Heaven can He?
Why can't He? Are you limiting my God? God has no limitations. True they might have sinned after they got saved, but lets be honest we all sin even those of us who are saved.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

According to God's word we all sin. Who are we to say one sin is worse than any other? God does not have different levels of sin. Sin is sin. Jesus said a sin is something as simple as a thought.

Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

If we all sin wether it be in our hearts, mentally, or physically we sin.
Quote :
Well how can we be going to Heaven if we are still sinning?

The only thing that will keep you out of Heaven will be blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. There are alot of different beliefs about blasphemy. Blasphemy is turning away from Christ (turning your back on Him). Commiting a sin is not turning your back on Christ. Committing a sin wrong, but it is not the end of our chance to go to Heaven. God's word says to believe. If you sin and still believe in Christ, my bible tells me that I will still go to Heaven. The problem with me sinning is my testimony. Let me portray a couple hypothetical situations.
Quote :
I work the bus route at church. If I were to go to the closest bar on Saturday night and then on Sunday morning go on the bus route to pick up a kid for church, what happens if the parent to that bus kid was at the bar the night before and saw me there? Do you think that parent is going to let their child go to church with me? I doubt it. My sin of going to bars prevents that kid from going to church.
Quote :
I go to the city mission and preach at least once a month. If I go around doing drugs and drinking, and the people at the mission see me, will they listen to anything I have to say about Jesus? I doubt it. My sin of drinking and doing drugs would prevent the people from the mission from learning about God.
Now in both of these situations I am sinning. In both of these situations my sin would prevent someone else from learning about or drawing closer to God. My sins do not prevent me from going to Heaven, but they prevent others from possibly going. If my sin prevents them from going then their blood will be on my hands at the judgement seat of Christ. They would go to hell because of me and my sin. It would be my fault. Jesus already died for my sin, why would I want someone else to pay for my sin.

According to God's word if I believe in the sacrifice of Christ then I will be in Heaven. What about everyone else?
